Immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative determination of IL-6(Interluekin-6) concentration in human whole blood, serum and plasma.

IL-6 is a polypeptide belonging to interleukin, composed of two glycoprotein chains; One was an α chain with a molecular weight of 80kd. The other is a β chain with a molecular weight of 130kd, which is rapidly produced during acute inflammatory reactions such as infection, internal and external injury, surgery, stress response, brain death, tumorgenesis and other conditions.IL-6 is involved in the occurrence and development of many diseases. Its serum level is closely related to inflammation [1-2], virus infection [3] and autoimmune diseases. Its change is earlier and longer than C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT).Studies have shown that IL-6 increases rapidly after bacterial infection, it increases after 2h, while C-reactive protein increases rapidly after 6h[4].The levels of IL-6 increase in various inflammatory diseases are different. IL-6 can also be used to evaluate the severity of infection and prognosis. Dynamic observation of interleukin -6 level also helps to understand the progress of infectious diseases and the response to treatment.
